Chief complaint

Right lower back and lower extremity pain

Patient

32-year-old male, Confectioner

Current History

Five years ago, he developed the disease without any particular trigger. He had been having exacerbations and remissions repeatedly. 3 months ago, he visited an orthopedist at a clinic and was diagnosed as having a lumbar disc herniation, and was treated with medication but without effect. 3 weeks ago, he had an exacerbation and was bedridden for the next 2 weeks. His symptoms worsened with standing and walking, but he often felt pain in the supine position. The pain started around the L4 and L5 of the right hip and radiated to the middle of the posterior thigh and the front of the lower leg.

Assessment

Based on the interview and the results of physical and neurological examination, it was determined that her leg pain was due to strangulation of the right L5 nerve root caused by a disc lesion.

Treatment

TEAT was stimulated at 1 Hz for 20 minutes around the lumbar pathology, the buttocks, and the right common peroneal nerve area.

Outcome

The patient was treated once a week, and by the end of the third session, his pain was under control without analgesic medication. He has continued to receive treatment every two weeks since then, and has been able to maintain his good condition.
