Chief Complaint

Upper right shoulder pain and numbness in the palmar side of the second to fifth fingers of the right hand

Patient

47-year-old female, Housewife

Current History

Onset 1 year and 3 months ago. She has been treated by three doctors without any effect. It hurts when she sleeps or when she makes a movement. Numbness in the fingers is always felt, especially after carrying a heavy bag on the shoulder.

Assessment

Based on the results of the interview and physical and neurological examination, we hypothesized that nerve root symptoms (C6-7 nerve root level) due to cervical disc lesions were the cause of the numbness in the fingers, and that the pain in the upper right shoulder was due to the contracture phase of a frozen shoulder.

Treatment

The patients received 20 minutes of TEAT treatment and 30 minutes of Nippon Massage treatment once a week, and were instructed in exercises they could do at home.

Outcome

After 6 treatments, the numbness in the fingers disappeared, and the shoulder pain was almost gone at the end of 7 treatments.
