Masayo was born and raised in Chiba, Japan, where she studied at a professional training school for various exercise instructors and obtained certifications as a fitness instructor, athletic trainer, and health exercise instructor. She then worked as a Health Exercise Instructor for 10 years starting in 1989, focusing on teaching aerobics, aquabics, and strength training to energetic and healthy people at fitness clubs in Japan.
From her experience teaching at a fitness club, she felt that more medical knowledge would be needed in the future. This was because, at that time, Japanese fitness clubs did not provide an adequate environment (facilities and instructors) where people with injuries and ailments could train with safety and comfort. Therefore, she studied modern medicine such as anatomy, exercise physiology, and rehabilitation science, as well as acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, which are traditional Japanese medicine, at a professional training school, and obtained Japanese national licenses as an acupuncturist and moxibustion therapist (in 2004).
After obtaining her acupuncture and moxibustion license, she worked as an acupuncturist at an orthopedic clinic in Japan, specializing in pain-relieving treatments. At the same time, she was commissioned by a government agency to provide guidance on lifestyle-related disease prevention exercises for middle-aged and older adults, and exercise for the elderly and frail to improve their daily living activities.

She studied at graduate school to further her expertise in how to teach exercise to the elderly and was granted a Master of Arts major in Sport Sciences in 2011 (Waseda University, JAPAN).
She then turned her passion to providing evidence-based, personalized exercise programs to help patients regain physical function, quality of life, and identity.
She used this experience to create an exercise program for the elderly and teach exercise instruction methods at a technical college that trains sports coaches.
She then began working with her husband, Dr. Hiroki, at City Clinic (Mauritius) in 2017 and started her own practice as a Practitioner of Traditional Japanese Medicine in 2021.
As a female practitioner, her practice's goal is to be especially close to women and to help people of all ages, whether they are in pain or have no exercise habits, to continue to get the exercise they need to live healthy and well forever.
